Strolling along the traces of Lessing in Kamenz
Everybody is familiar with the famous Ring Parable from "Nathan the Wise". It was written by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing who was born in Kamenz in 1729. A large number of nooks and crannies still bear the traces of his childhood spent here. Come with us on a journey back in time to the 18th century and visit, say, the house in Lessinggässchen Street where he was born, or St. Mary's Church where he was baptised. Follow his early path to school through the city centre to the Monastery Church, where the avid pupil's municipal Latin School once stood. Or alternatively, explore Lessing's world in the Lessing Museum. It was established in honour of the poet and enlightener and today provides interesting aspects of his life and works.
